Mark Melter
Partner
Mark Melter joined Rush Hannula Harkins & Kyler as a partner in 2022 so he could focus his practice on helping injured individuals. Previously a defense attorney, Mark’s early practice involved representing doctors, hospitals, insurance companies, and businesses in all aspects of civil litigation including medical malpractice and serious personal injury lawsuits. Mark has been named a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” in the field of medical malpractice since 2020. His ten plus years of experience representing both defendants and insurance companies makes him uniquely qualified to now represent injured parties and their families. In his first two years at RHHK, Mark has obtained more than $6 million in verdicts and settlements for his clients.
Prior to joining RHHK, Mark was part of a litigation team that recovered a multi-million dollar settlement on behalf of a Tacoma family whose wife/mother was tragically killed when a tow truck company failed to secure its load. Mark played a key role in holding not just the tow truck company accountable, but also the multinational company that sold the load without taking any efforts to secure it. Mark’s experience on that case solidified that he wanted to spend the rest of his career helping injured individuals.
Mark was born in Tempe, Arizona. He worked his way through college at Arizona State University, receiving a degree in Political Science. In 2012, he obtained his law degree from Gonzaga University School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude and was elected Editor-in-Chief of the Gonzaga Law Review. He has a Master’s in Business Administration from the Gonzaga University Graduate School of Business, and he has published in the Gonzaga Journal of International Law.
He is married to Alyssa Melter, who is also an attorney. Mark and Alyssa have three young children and can be found on weekends pushing their running strollers through the streets of Tacoma looking for the next park or playground. Mark is the first lawyer in his family.
